One To Watch: 01.01.12 Dirteetv.com

As the new year looms, another uncertain year for grime awaits us, with Lord of The Mics having dropped just before Christmas, there appears to have been a late surge in the number of good quality grime songs being released, and kicking 2012 off, backed by dirtee-stank, Dizee Rascal, Footsie And D Double E have decided to release a mix-tape with the same name as their website “dirteetv.com” and after a few hectic weeks of promotion, it will be ready to drop in a couple of days, posted below is a preview of “Guts n Glory” featuring Scrufizzer which if this is an indication of how 2012 is going to pan out, it will be the best year Grime has had in recent times. Posted below is guts n glory, but let me know what you think, will the rest of tracks follow suit? Get at me at @Matt_MOG.

Oh Geezus It’s Christmas AGAIN!

After the success of the OGz previous Christmas mixtape in 2008, the release of of another  was imminent. The mix-tape just oozes grime right from the offset.
This Christmas has been a great one for grime fans alike and it appears that with the release of  Lord of the Mics, Momentum and now this has triggered a surge in good grime, and has to be one of the best years for grime in a long while, which is good to see.

On this mix-tape, it is important to note that Preditah, one of Birmingham’s best producers has come to light in recent months, and the instrumental on the track “sisters” is my editors choice here.

The beast returns after a year laying low, and the beast is in the form of Ghetts. After listening to this mix-tape I feel as though it needs all the publicity as it can get, and assuming all real grime fans will have already downloaded this mix-tape, this is for those who haven’t and if you haven’t, please waste no more time and press the link below, as it is EASILLY one of the best mix-tapes of the year and in my opinion, just edges his previous Christmas mix-tape, showing ever-growing progress from an artist who is as good as he has ever been.

Wiley – Cheer Up, It’s Christmas

Feeling a bit down this christmas??? Then listen to this brand new Wiley track ‘Cheer Up Its Christmas’ and as far as christmas songs go this easily matches the classics by Wham and Boney M, okay maybe not but it’s still a very catchy festive effort from the man they call the Godfather of Grime.

Footsie – 1 Spliff [Out Jan 23rd 2012]

Nico Lindsay – S-Star Tv Freestyle

After already featuring on S-StarTvs channel already in the past it would appear that Nico Lindsay more than made a good impression as S-Star once again ask Nico Lindsay to do his thing this time over a G.Tank beat.

One thing you can always guarantee you’re going to get with Nico Lindsay is ‘Lyrics’ and he doesnt let us down as he fully allows the G.Tank to let him express himself.

M.I.K – Flushing Mcs [Out December 28th]

Artist: M.I.K.

Title: Flushing MC’s EP

Release Date: 28th December 2011

Available from: iTunes, Amazon

Label: M.O.G. Recordings

M.O.G. Recordings are proud to announce M.I.K.’s “Flushing MC’s” as the latest release from their growing catalogue of Grime must-haves.

While many of the scene’s artists are saving material up for 2012, M.I.K. intends to mark 2011 as his year for singles, so is set to unleash “Flushing MC’s” just ahead of the New Year.

Aside from massive collaborations with Discarda, Merky ACE and appearing on the massive J Beatz-produced “8 Bar Mucktion”, the Family Tree mic man has been inescapable on Grime radio waves, thanks to “Do It”, DPMO” and “Donny Don”. His latest single carries the same singalong vibe as the aforementioned tracks and is set to be just as unavoidable.

Equipped with his “venomous flow” M.I.K. bounces off a sample from Dizzee Rascal’s top 20 hit, “Fix Up, Look Sharp”, to create an anthem for cleaning up his competition. After dismissing claims of being a “New Wave” MC, the experienced spitter exemplifies his outlandish creativeness on the mic. This unconventional musicianship comes through with his beat choice too, as Asa goes outside the box for his original mix of the tune, before offering the guest remixers a chance to show what they’re about.

Beyond the original version, listeners are subjected to extravagant re-hashes of the song by Grime go-to-guys, Faze Miyake, Mr. Mitch and DJ Spooky.

When Faze Miyake gets a hold on the acappella, he enriches the track with skipping percussion and his signature dog howls. Mr. Mitch opposes it, by mellowing the track with a sparse asymmetric drum patterns, whilst upholding the raw feel the the original. Spooky, on the other hand, uses “Flushing MC’s” as a opportunity to blast his rugged production style onto a raucous lyrical outburst. Between the four producers, they channel M.I.’s Grime spirit into another out-and-out vibeser.

Look out “Flushing MC’s” on 28th December, which will drop along with its official video.

Tracks:

1:MIK – Flushing Mcs [Prod By Asa]
2:MIK – Flushing Mcs [Faze Miyake Remix]
3:MIK – Flushings Mcs [Mr Mitch Remix]
4:MIK – Flushing Mcs [Dj Spooky’s Toilet Brush Remix]
